Ahhh.... I finally get a chance to return to my muse!
This was done for somebody's Madcatz Tournament Edition Arcade Fight Stick, but not just anybody's.... I did it for mine! I'm going to EVO in Las Vegas in a few weeks, both to meet up with friends and to compete, and I thought I would show off some of my own personal flair while I'm there. I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while now, and several characters have been considered (Leona from KOF, M. Bison from Street Fighter, even my own Rowena), but I came to the conclusion that none other than Ryoko is worthy! After all, she is my favorite character from what I still consider to be my favorite anime, Tenchi Muyo!. Joining her in this picture is of course the space ship from of Ryo-Ohki, completing the space pirate duo. I've drawn her here in her super action oriented space getup, the outfit she wears when she means business. Perhaps if I feel so inclined I'll draw her in some of her other signature outfits soon..
Oh yes, and this was my first try at airbrushing a piece! I just felt like it could use something different, and wanted to try a new approach. I'll keep experimenting with this and my simple anime cell shading approach as well. This was done 95% with Paint Tool SAI, 5% with Photoshop over the course of several days.
Wish me luck at EVO! I'll be competing in King of Fighters 13, Soul Calibur V, and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. I'll update with some pictures of how the art looks on the stick sometime after then.
