Artist's Comments

Before I get started with the description, I want to say that I have been experimenting with layer styles for the final versions of my past few drawings (not the mario monster compendium ones though, it wouldn't be good for the site if I got too artsy with those). However, in this picture, despite the fact that the experimenting has led me to something much closer to my original intent, the coloring is FAR different than it is without any alterations. I always keep a copy of the original picture (with the original color and background layers all intact), so if anyone would like to see the original coloring for this (her skin is darker, for example, and there is more depth to the shading), I would be happy to post it in the scraps. Maybe if people like it better, I'd even switch it with this one.

Okay, so this is Sister Isabella, another member the next generation Intrepids team (see my picture called "Shantae Ondine" for more details on that). Like the rest, she is the daughter of one or more of the original members: Terra Cotta the Spanish Knight, and an unconfirmed male member. After becoming a Paladin, Terra roamed the new world to help bring justice to these as of yet untamed lands. She had no time with children, so she put her new daughter Isabella in the care of a Catholic missionary somewhere in Mexico. Eventually Isabella joined the convent, but had a yen to travel and do good works like her mother. So she became a special kind of Templar Knight, both an excellent faith healer and combatant. As she is a nun, she can never have any children of her own, so Siris Ondine brought her to Neuron to perserve Terra's line, and she lives there without aging untill the start of the current series. Like with Goemon, I may just have Siris bring her through time when she is needed, but it's not important to decide that now.

As with her mother, Isabella uses a european sword fighting style. However, she uses a short sword instead of a long one, but she trade the sword size for a capable sheild, and also the ability to charge her weapon with divine energy when needed. Yes, this is another weapon inspired by Soul Calibur, where the created character's sword and sheild weapon from III charges with a bolt of energy. Of course, they put this in as an alternative to Sophitia and Cassandra, and i think the thunderbolt charge and shoot is the coolest. Makes me feel like I'm Liono from the Thunder Cats, or He-Man..... so you can see why I'd want one of my own characters to use this technique. So that of course is part of the inspiration. Technically Isabella's little golden cap should be part of her nun hood, but since that hood has turned into a cloak item, some changes have to be made. Besides this means she'll look cool with or withought the hood onver her head! Like I said earlier, her skin is supposed to look darker like her mother, but since I got creative, that's a little lost in this picture. Her hair is dark like her fathers.... whoever he is. ;)

FAQ #56: How can I get more pageviews?

"Everyone is different, no two people are not on fire."

"Cigarettes are like candy, only on fire."
:iconur-draco:
A) I wish I could draw as well as you.
B) I wish I could color as well as you.
C) WHOA! Beautiful! It almost seems like her left boot (our right) is on tighter than than her right (our left), but no biggie. Still wonderful piece, Zargon!
:iconzargon-yokoshima:
I see what you mean about the boot. Ah well, blame it on the angle.

Anyways, thanks as always! It's always nice to have someone ho appreciates your stuff. I wish I could appreciate your terringama (sorry if I screwed that up) stuff more, but I don't have any idea how the program works. I guess I could ask you this: how hard would you say it is to make those? If you really are doing alot in there, and it's not just spreading a bunch of textures, I might be interested in the program myself.

Contrariwise, my dear Figwit :)
:iconur-draco:
It's not hard at all. You enter in numbers, set different settings (such as glaciation, height, water levels, sun angle, etc) and render. Once you get the hang of the multiple layers for ground textures (you assign different colors and height ranges, as well as how abundant each one is), it will only take 15-30 minutes to create a piece, then you have to render it, which can take a while. I like to either A) render while I'm sleeping, ob B) render while I'm at class. It's worth a look at, in my opinion. Oh, and I like to manipulate the renders in Photoshop, which takes minutes to days, depending on what you're doing. With your drawing and photoshop skills, I'm sure you could create trees, planets, moons, etc. I don't know how to do links on DA, but is you Google "Terragen", it should be the first link (Planetside.co.uk/terragen). I learned mostly through tinkering around, and this + Photoshop can create some truly amazing works. Uh... Yeah.
:iconrandyman:
Terragen's nice and all, but you get this wonderful feeling of satisfaction watching a scene render that you painstakingly built polygon by polygon, created the textures yourself, and posed the models in just the position that you wanted. It really is alot of fun.

Much appreciated!

No other comments to add? It may not seem like it sometimes, but I do try to be accepting of crticism. But hey, if you don't have any gripes, that's not a problem (of course).

Actually, I do have one. I think that you used too many bright/white colors. they just seem to burn a hole in your eyes.
